Comparing IPTV services is easier when you line up the same features for each one. This checklist covers the features that make a practical difference day to day — and explains what each one means, so you know what you're comparing.

Copy the table at the end and fill it in for each provider on your shortlist.

Content features

Live TV

Live channels streamed in real time. When comparing, look at whether the provider describes what's included clearly and whether you can ask about specific needs before buying. Learn how live IPTV streaming works.

Video on demand (VOD) and series

A library of titles you can start any time. Check whether series are organised by season and episode, and whether the player you plan to use supports the provider's VOD format. See what video on demand is.

Electronic Program Guide (EPG)

Schedule data that lets your player show what's on now and next. A good EPG makes live TV far easier to browse. Ask whether EPG data is provided and how often it's updated. Read what an EPG is.

Catch-up

The ability to replay recently aired programmes. Availability usually varies by channel, so ask which channels support it.

Technical features

Simultaneous connections

How many screens can play at once. This is often the most important feature for households.

Access methods

Most services provide an M3U playlist URL, an Xtream Codes login, or both. Xtream Codes logins often make it easier for players to load EPG and VOD automatically. Compare them in M3U vs Xtream Codes.

Video quality

Look for specific information about available resolutions rather than vague claims. Remember that the quality you actually see depends on your connection and device too. See IPTV video quality and resolution.

Device support

Check that a compatible player exists for each device you plan to use, and that the provider has setup instructions for it. Our compatible devices page covers the main platforms.

Service features

Setup documentation

Step-by-step guides for your device save a lot of time. Look for guides that cover installing a player, entering your details and configuring the EPG.

Support channels

How do you reach a person? Is there a contact form or email address, and do they state when you can expect a reply?

Account area

Can you see your subscription status, end date and order history somewhere? It's a small thing that makes managing renewals much easier.

Commercial features

Renewal model

Automatic or manual? If automatic, how do you cancel? See how renewal works.

Refund policy

Is there a published policy with a clear time window and conditions?

Transparency

Can you identify who runs the service, and are the terms and policies easy to find?

How to weigh the results

Not every feature matters equally to everyone. Decide on your must-haves first — usually device support, connections and clear terms — and treat the rest as tie-breakers. If two services look similar, choose the one that's more transparent and easier to get help from.

This guide is for general information. Third-party apps and device menus change over time; if something looks different on your device, check the app or manufacturer's own documentation. Brand names belong to their respective owners.
