When voices don't match lips, or a channel plays with no sound, the cause is usually in how audio is decoded or sent to your speakers — not in your subscription. Work through these steps in order.

First: is it everywhere or one channel?

  • One channel or title only: likely that stream's audio. Try the steps below, then report it if it continues.
  • Everything: likely a device, player or audio-equipment setting.
  • Only with a soundbar, receiver or headphones: likely the audio path.

Fix 1: Restart playback

Stop and restart the channel. Sync can drift during long sessions or after a network hiccup; restarting resets it.

Fix 2: Adjust audio delay in the player

Most players have an audio delay or audio sync setting, adjustable in milliseconds:

  • Sound arrives late (lips move before you hear the words): set a negative delay, or "audio earlier".
  • Sound arrives early: set a positive delay, or "audio later".

Adjust in small steps (for example 50 ms) while watching someone speak.

Fix 3: Switch the decoder

Switch between hardware and software decoding. Sync and missing-audio problems often disappear with the other decoder. See how to configure an IPTV player.

Fix 4: Check audio passthrough

If you use a soundbar or AV receiver:

  • Passthrough on sends surround formats untouched to your audio equipment. If that equipment doesn't support the format, you get no sound.
  • Passthrough off has the device convert audio to a format everything understands.

Try toggling passthrough in the player and the device's sound settings.

Fix 5: TV and soundbar sync settings

Many TVs and soundbars have their own lip-sync or AV sync setting. If you've adjusted one, don't also adjust the player in the opposite direction — change one thing at a time.

  • On Apple TV, check Wireless Audio Sync where available, and Audio Format settings. See Apple TV compatibility notes.
  • Turning off heavy TV picture processing (some "motion" modes) can reduce video delay and improve sync.

Fix 6: Bluetooth headphones and speakers

Bluetooth adds noticeable delay. Some devices compensate automatically; others don't. Use the player's audio delay to correct it, or use wired audio for the best sync.

Fix 7: Choose a different audio track

If a stream offers several audio tracks, the default may be in a format your setup handles poorly. Try another track from the player's audio menu.

No sound at all

  1. Check the volume and mute on the TV and audio equipment.
  2. Confirm the correct output is selected (TV speakers vs HDMI audio).
  3. Toggle passthrough off.
  4. Switch decoder.
  5. Try another channel to see if the issue is stream-specific.

Still out of sync?

Update the player and device software, then test another reputable player for comparison — installing a player safely explains how. If the problem is a black screen rather than sync, see channels not loading. IPTV Apollo customers can contact support with the channel, device, player and audio setup.
